Brian & Sarah, Stuart, Richard and Linda, Geoff, Colin & Barbara, Carolyn & Howard all found somewhere to park and, although the evening was a bit cool and windy, had a great time on the Boules piste in Leeds. Sarah put us all to shame with her luxury picnic, complete with tablecloth and wine. Richard & Linda took the weather into account and brought along a camping stove and cooked up some kind of stew and the rest of us managed with sandwiches and stealing from the others! The competition was fierce although some Petanquists were more proficient than others and the cream rose to the top! While some found the piste uneven and dotted with mounds of soft gravel and “impossible!!”, somehow Richard and Howard managed to play as if the surface was the best ever. In a very tense final, under the arc lights and in the shadow of the trees, Howard managed to finally win through and claim his prize!
The press should have been there - but perhaps it was too chilly for them?.
